A Chinese military aircraft participating in the Sino-Russian "Peace Mission-2009" joint anti-terror exercise crashed at a military training base in northeast China early Sunday.

The fighter-bomber with a crew of two was flying over the Taonan tactical training base in Jilin Province when it crashed. It is not known if the crew escaped from the aircraft.

The cause for the crash was not immediately known and military authorities are investigating.
