Microsoft China Research & Development Group held a ground-breaking ceremony for its HQ buildings on May 6 in Zhongguancun in Beijing. It will become Microsoft's largest overseas research and development park upon completion.

At present, Microsoft China Research & Development Group has become Microsoft's largest and the most comprehensive research and development institution overseas, according to Dr. Zhang Yaqin, Vice President of Microsoft Corporation. Settling the headquarters in Zhongguancun has once again demonstrated Microsoft's confidence in China's information industry, said Dr. Zhang.

Two buildings with total area of 150,000 square meters will be built. The investment amounts to 280 million US dollars. The project will be completed in 2010.
