The 2008 Shanghai International Digital Media Technology and Industry Development Forum opened in Shanghai on the 14th. Supported by the government and approved by the Inter-Ministerial Joint Meeting on the Development of the Animation Industry, the state-level "Shanghai Public Technology Service Platform on Animation and Games" was set up on the same day, according to Xinhua reports from officials from the Ministry of Science and Technology and the Ministry of Culture at the forum.
The "Shanghai Public Technology Service Platform on Animation and Games" produces and supports various types of high-precision animation and films; and is capable of 4K-level animation special effects production, editing synthesis, light distribution and colors pilot. It has established up to a 4K-level cluster rendering services environment; and formed an internationally-advanced, late production of the digital animation production chain.
Animation creative enterprises are relatively small in scale at the initial stage which means they can not independently purchase expensive post-production equipment. After the completion of the animation technology platform, enterprises do not have to buy their own equipment, as they can borrow service platform equipment. Therefore, the establishment of the platform will effectively reduce business start-up costs and operation costs; and will promote the development of the animation industry.
