On June 25, the 60th session of the Executive Council of World Meteorological Organization voted to award China's academician Qin Dahe the International Meteorological Organization Prize. This is the first time in five years that a Chinese scientist has won the highest honor of World Meteorological Organization, according to the China Meteorological Administration.

The International Meteorological Organization Award is presented annually to a person for his /her outstanding contributions to meteorological, hydrological and geophysical sciences. Qin Dahe is the world's leading expert on glaciers and climate, and an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Third World Academy of Sciences .
