According to the New Express, it was learned from the TD systems industry that China Mobile has planned 45 program services and has prepared the TD network to provide all 3G services for the Olympic period. Systems manufacturers Datang and ZTE have said that in order to ensure the successful operation of the 45 program services, the TD-SCDMA networks that have already been set up in Olympic cities have been upgraded to HSDPA (3.5G).

Following the development requirements of the 28 types and 45 program services recently launched by China Mobile, all systems equipment producers and terminal manufacturers will speed up their processes.

The biggest difference between 3G and 2G lies in the video types and high-speed data network that each provides. A representative of China Potevio said that at present, the TD network can support almost all 3G services. During the Olympics, TD-SCDMA will provide videophones, downloadable streaming media on HSD-PA, mobile TV, and other new 3G services. The TD-SCDMA system that China Potevio provides is capable of fully supporting and providing these high-speed networks.

Furthermore, Datang, ZTE, and China Potevio, in accordance with requirements for Olympic services, have improved their networks, provided special Olympic services, and worked on 2G/3G interoperability in order to fulfill the objectives set forth by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.
