China's first regional aircraft with self-owned intellectual property rights, ARJ21-700 aircraft named "Xiang Feng" is scheduled to take maiden flight on September 21, 2008, Daily Economic News reported.

At present, there are a total of five ARJ21-700 aircraft, three of which will be used for maiden flight test.

ARJ21 aircraft was developed by AVICI Commercial Aircraft Co., LTD and aims to meet operating requirements of landing in China's high temperature western airports and overcome the complicated route barrier.

The first ARJ21-700 went off the general assembly in Shanghai Aircraft Manufacturing Factory in December 2007.
