Tourism administration in Jiuquan announced that tours of visiting the space center and watching the launch of Shenzhou-7 spacecraft are suspended for sake of security and confidentiality. Exact resumption date is to be decided after the launch.

At the beginning of September, Dongfeng Aerospace City informed Jiuquan Tourism Administration to suspend sightseeing activities in the Space Center, said an official with the tourism administration.

A staff surnamed Huang from a local tourism agency said that many tourists recently called to ask for information about Shenzhou-7 launch tour.

"Space city tour is always on the agency's agenda, we even organized on-site watching of launches of Shenzhou-5 and Shenzhou-6. It is the first time that tours is banned in the Space Center," Miss Huang said.

Shenzhou series spacecrafts have boost the tourism industry of Jiuquan. Tourists from all parts of the country desire to explore Dongfeng Aerospace City. Space city tours organized by local travel agencies enjoy constant high popularity. The one-day tour includes visiting the launch tower, the apartment of astronauts and the martyr cemetery, priced at approximately 400 yuan.
