A number of academicians of Chinese Academy of Science and Chinese Academy of Engineering and experts of space technology think there are still gaps in space industry between China and the space industry powers. China needs new efforts to catch up with them, in particular on the development of new generation of carrier rockets.

Compared with the space industry powers, China is lagging behind in the following aspects: the development of new generation of carrier rockets, the construction of space infrastructure and the construction of space scientific system.

According to Tu Shou'e, a space technology expert, the U.S. and Russia had already updated their carrier rockets years ago, which widens the gap between China and them; China's space technology was even behind India and Japan once upon a time.

According to Sun Jiadong and Long Lehao, academicians of Chinese Academy of Engineering, the technology of rockets is the basis of space technology. China has to aim at developing new Long March series featuring high-reliability, low-cost and pollution-free as soon as possible to satisfy the demands of market in next 30 years.

The new rockets feature large diameter, large carrying ability, high reliability, pollution-free and easy to operate.

In the next decade, the United States, Europe and Japan will develop this new type of rockets. To narrow the gap, China's space industry needs more efforts and makes new contribution.
