The official award presentation ceremony for the 53rd International Meteorological Organization (IMO) Prize was recently held at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing.
World Meteorological Organization (WMO) President Alexander Bedritsky and WMO Secretary-General Michel Jarraud made a special trip to China to present the award. The IMO prize is the most prestigious award in the global meteorological community and has been known as the "Nobel Prize in Meteorology". Qin is the second Chinese scientist to win the prize.
Hui Liangyu, member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Vice Premier of State Council, attended the ceremony and expressed warm congratulations to the laureate of the 53rd IMO Prize, Qin Dahe, an academician at the Chinese Academy of Sciences.
