At the Third China International Road Safety Products Expo recently held in Beijing, a fingerprint testing system that prevents drunk driving attracted lots of attention. Before driving, the driver needs only to place his or her middle finger against the detector installed under the steering wheel, and the system will automatically analyze the fingerprint and sweat within 20 seconds. The engine cannot be started if the alcohol reading exceeds the permitted level.

The system was developed by Zhao Wencai and Li Zhoumu, both being undergraduate students from China University of Geosciences.
