Vimicro Corporation recently announced that sales of its mobile phone multimedia chip, named "Star Mobile," had surpassed 100 million units worldwide. This is another historic breakthrough after 2006 when global sales of the "Star" digital multimedia chip exceeded 100 million units. It also marks the fact that Zhongguancun's high-tech enterprises have made new industrialization achievements.
Reporters learned that following nine years of successive innovation, Vimicro's product lines, to date, have already encompassed audio players, video players, application processors and open media platforms in the mobile multimedia field. It is one of the few companies worldwide that provides a full range of mobile multimedia chips.
