A newly developed pilotless plane named Blade drew enormous attention from visitors at the exhibition of equipment for emergency response and rescue and security system technology, sponsored by China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation.
Blade, which just made its first successful flight in Tianjin, is a multifunction pilotless plane mainly used for aerial photography, aerial survey, climate and environment monitoring, coastal patrol, forest fire prevention and petroleum or electricity pipe line investigation.
Blade is equipped with a 12 Kilowatt engine and propeller. Its wing span is 3.98 meters long and the body is 2.8 meters long. Its speed during patrol is 120 Km/h. Its maximum flying height is 4000m and cruise duration is 3 hours.
SH-1 multifunction pilotless plane, SH-3 low speed light aircraft and remote sensing and mapping system from the TF-1D pilotless plane, also developed by China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation, were exhibited in the same area as Blade. Meanwhile, a series of emergency response and rescue equipment provided to the disaster area in Sichuan Province last year and other security systems developed for the Beijing Olympics and Paralympics were also presented at the exhibition.
