National Supercomputing Center starts construction in Shenzhen

National Supercomputing Center was launched in Shenzhen Nov. 16, 2009, sponsored by the Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST), Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) and Shenzhen government. The center is expected to be completed in November next year, with calculation ability over 1,000 trillion functions per second.
The National Supercomputing Center absorbs 800 million yuan investment, 200 million yuan coming from the central government and 600 million yuan from Shenzhen side. It will establish four platforms. National Supercomputing Center is expected to provide technology support for meteorology, finance and other public information industries, provide innovation computing and data processing solutions for companies, provide essential support for advanced computing software and serve as the base for technology exchange and international cooperation in South China regions.
