Zhang Jianguo, Vice-Director of General of State Administration of Foreign Experts Affairs, at the press meeting of the 2007 Conference on International Exchange of Professionals held in Beijing, Nov. 12, 2007.

Zhang Jianguo, Vice-Director of the General of State Administration of Foreign Experts Affairs, made this announcement at Monday's press conference held at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing. He also stated that Shenzhen's advantages in location (adjacent to Hong Kong and Macao), and early reform and opening up combined, would make the conference "international, high-class, professional, and excellent."

Liu Yingli, Vice-Mayor of the People’s Government of Shenzhen, at the press meeting of the 2007 Conference on International Exchange of Professionals held in Beijing, Nov. 12, 2007.

Liu Yingli, Vice-Mayor of the People's Government of Shenzhen, states that professional competition has become increasingly fierce and pervasive. The professional exchange conference will not only provide access to an organization, cooperation and exchange of professionals, and establish a sound network of human resources; but also promote a reasonable, foreseeable flow of talent.

Shenzhen accepts 40,000 college students, and over 1,000 students returned from study abroad, each year. Today, there are nearly 10,000 overseas students in Shenzhen. In addition, Shenzhen has attracted 60,000 foreign professionals in the past 3 years. Liu noted that 10 of these foreign professionals have been selected as "Friendship Award" laureates.

A good salary and a decent lodging are no longer the only elements attracting foreign professionals, according to Director Wang Min of the Personnel Bureau of Shenzhen Municipality. A comfortable living environment and a healthy humanistic atmosphere have become major factors influencing the professional's choice. As a result, it has become more important to improve the living environment and public service of a city.

The conference will include exhibitions, negotiations, and the China International Talent Summit Forum. There are 8 exhibitions: for foreign experts, training organizations for professionals going abroad, achievements in attracting professionals, management consultation & qualification certificates, promotions of projects from overseas experts, international cultural experts, international vocational education & training, and the"Golden Collar World" High Level Talents Recruitment Fair.

The Conference on the International Exchange of Professionals is currently the only one exclusively open to foreign expert organizations, training institutions and professional talent. It is an integration of professionals, intelligence, technology, projects and management. Within the last five years, the conference was held in Nanjing, Jiangsu province and Shenyang, Liaoning province.
