A landslide buried 11 people in Jixian County in north China's Tianjin Municipality Sunday morning.

The landslide occurred at 9:00 a.m. at a quarry in Baijian Town.

In addition to the trapped persons, rescuers had saved one from the debris. And the injured was rushed to a nearby hospital.

According to the rescue headquarters, rescuers were working to locate the buried and cranes would be used to remove the huge rocks fallen in the large-scale landslide.

The trapped were believed to have been buried deep.

There might be more than 10 kilograms of explosive under the rubble, which made the rescue operation even more difficult and dangerous, according to the headquarters.

Local officials said the accident was the result of a natural landslide.
