Official says Macao has efficient system to supervise gaming revenue, tax

The government of Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR) has formed an efficient and up-to-date system to supervise the SAR's gross gaming revenue and the required gaming tax paid by gaming operators, a Macao official said on Thursday.

The SAR's gross revenues from different gaming activities and different types of games of fortune, betting amount from Pari- mutuels and Lotteries, and other relevant data were released on a quarterly basis by the SAR's Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau (GICB), said GICB Director Mauel Joaquim das Neves, when addressing an inquiry from a lawmaker.

He also said he believes the authorities has duly released relevant information of Macao's gaming industry which is sufficient to satisfy public needs.

By far, the island city of 528,000 residents see 28 casinos in operation and its gaming revenue outstripped Las Vegas.
