The Office for Charitable Cause Coordination of the Ministry of Civil Affairs and the charitable contributions Information Center issued "China's 2007 annual report of charitable donations" on the 31st in Beijing. The report pointed out that in 2007, China's public and corporations made charitable donations (material) amounting to 22.3 billion yuan, an increase of 123% over 2006.

The general public donated a total of 3.2 billion yuan. Domestic annual contributions amounted to billions from 13 work units or individuals, each of 2 billion yuan in contributions.

The report showed that, on the whole, these funds were mainly for helping students in poor areas, helping the poor, disaster relief, medical help, helping the disabled and environmental protection. Funds toward helping students in poor areas, relief funds for the poor and disaster relief accounted for nearly 60% of the total.
