A total of 1.2 million people entered and exited Macao special administrative region (SAR) during the first four days of Chinese Lunar New Year, the Macao Post Daily reported on Monday.
The daily quoted Macao SAR Public Security Police (PSP) official as saying that a total of 624,346 entries and 578,160 exits were recorded between Feb. 7 and 10:00 p.m. Sunday.
The PSP has added more temporary immigration counters at the Barrier Gate to cope with the surging numbers of visitors, the majority of which were tourists from the Chinese mainland and the Hong Kong SAR, according to the report.
To better serve tourists who flooded into the island city of only 527,000 residents, the tourist office of the Macao SAR government has set up a special around-the-clock "Macao Tourist Hotline" on Feb. 6, through which tourists can ask for official information of Macao, including transportation, dining and hotels,etc. Source: Xinhua
