Recently, the Beijing Subway Operation Co., Ltd. has been cooperating with the bus security officials to install security equipment in subway stations such as in the Dongzhimen and Ciqikou stations to intercept passengers who carry flammable, explosive or other dangerous articles onto the subway. Bus security officials said the offices will strive for security in all subway stations before the Olympic Games.
Since subway fares were adjusted in July of last year, the number of passengers has soared. As traffic increased, the number of people who carry flammable, explosive or other dangerous goods onto the subway has also increased. Last year the police seized hundreds of kilograms of dangerous flammable items. Almost everyday, people carry flammable, easily cracked, explosive and other dangerous materials. On February 3, the subway company cooperated with Metro Transit Police to install security equipment in Dongzhimen and Ciqikou stations, where security equipment was officially launched. The subway company and Metro Transit Police are stepping up research and subway security work, hoping to achieve security on all subway lines before the Olympic Games.
