A warehouse explosion in the northwestern Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region on Monday night killed four people and injured two others, local police said.
The explosion happened at about 10:13 p.m. in the facility at the Jiujiawan Porcelain Market in the regional capital, Urumqi. It took 35 fire engines and 85 fire fighters more than one hour to extinguish the fire.
Police said that the warehouse owner was moving a truckload of chemical materials into the building when careless handling triggered an explosion. The owner, his son and two workers were killed. The injured people were warehouse workers, police said. An investigation is under way.
