Nine farm workers were killed and seven others were injured when their truck overturned in southwest China's Yunnan Province on Wednesday, government sources said on Thursday.
The truck carrying 18 people rolled on a rural road in Mile County, 143 km southeast of the provincial capital Kunming, the sources said.

The truck was carrying people from the village of Pengpu to work in nearby sugar cane fields.

The accident left nine dead at the scene. Two of the injured were seriously hurt and are still being treated in hospital. The others sustained slight injuries and have left hospital.

Local police said the accident was reported Wednesday afternoon. The exact time and cause were being investigated.
