As a key project of the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, the Beijing Capital International Airport rail line completed its first test on the 25th. This was the first of a series of comprehensive operations tests before the line opens for use, according to Xinhua Net.
The Beijing Metro Operation Company reported that the trial includes the Airport Rail stopping lane, pull-out line, car wash line, comprehensive cleaning garage, covered track, maintenance, and the line from Dongzhimen Station to the T2 and T3 airport terminal stations.
According to reports, the airport rail line connects Beijing Capital Airport and the Rapid Rail Transit, runing a total of 28 km. It begins at Dongzhimen Station; runs along airport highway bypass roads to the airport extension; and leads directly to the airport’s T2 and T3 terminals. This rail will run at a minimum interval of 4 minutes; and is scheduled for a passenger test run in July 2008.
