Prosecutors have so far issued arrest warrants for 30 people in connection with the riots that rocked Lhasa, capital of China's Tibet Autonomous Region, on March14, said a top Tibetan official on Thursday.

"These people are accused of endangering national security and committing severe criminal offenses including beating, smashing, looting and arson. The evidences are irrefutable," said Baema Chilain, vice chairman of the regional government at a press conference for domestic and overseas media.

So far 414 people have been detained for their alleged involvement in the unrest, said the official. "Among the detained most are Tibetans and there are also ethnic Han people," he added.

Among the 53 people on the wanted list of the police, four have been caught and six others have surrendered to police, bringing the number of people to have turned themselves in to 289, he said.

Investigations are continuing and 111 of those who voluntarily surrendered have been released, Chilain said.
