The International Year of Planet Earth China Action initiation ceremony and the commemoration of the 39th World Earth Day campaign was held on April 22 in the China University of Geosciences (Beijing).
These two events adopt the same theme, "Recognizing the earth, harmony and development." Their goals are to enhance public awareness of the Earth, and to promote earth sciences to serve sustainable social and economic development.
