Mozambique on Tuesday held the foundation stone-laying ceremony for the country's national stadium which is sponsored by the Chinese government, according to the Chinese Embassy in the Mozambican capital Maputo.

Addressing the ceremony, Mozambican Youth and Sports Minister David Simango expressed the Mozambican government's gratitude for the long-term support and assistance from the Chinese government and people.

Simango spoke highly of China's assistance for the building of Mozambique's national stadium, adding that he hopes the two countries enhance cooperation in the construction of the project to benefit the Mozambican people.

Echoing Simango's remarks, Chinese Ambassador to Mozambique Tian Guangfeng said the Chinese side attaches great importance to the project and hoped related departments from the two countries work closely to make the project a success.
