Travel in Tibet, which has been quiet for some time, will fully resume on May 1. According to a Nanfang Daily report on the 24th, as the Tibet Autonomous Region Government has previously decided to resume domestic tourism to Tibet from April 23, many travel agents in the region have quickly begun preparations for Tibet Tours. The public can seek out major travel agents for advice beginning the 25th.

The "3.14" Lhasa incident has had a great impact on tourism in Tibet. In the urban area of Lhasa, many shops, hotels, restaurants have been damaged; and coupled with the riots and social security problems, have resulted in the suspension of tourist travel to Lhasa. Tibet's tourism industry has been at a standstill. With the approach of "May 1" holiday, to resume Tibet Tour "has become the focus of public concern." Tibet regional officer from West Holiday travel agency said that the Tibet Autonomous Regional Tourism Bureau held a travel agencies meeting on April 22; and the local government has decided to resume domestic tourism to Tibet from April 23. Tourists from Hong Kong and Taiwan can travel to Tibet from May 1, but the timetable for foreign visitor travel into Tibet has not been identified.
