Ningbo Yinzhou District authorities revealed that the revised edition of "San Zi Jing" (Three Character Classic) will be published and publicly-distributed on April 25 by the People's Education Press. The revised edition will maintain the original's essence; and the revisions and new contents will not exceed 10 percent of the original book.

"Three Character Classic" is enlightening material for children which has long and far-reaching influence in Chinese history. The content covers history, astronomy, geography, ethics, morality and folklore.

"Three Character Classic" was written by renowned scholar Wang Yinglin who lived during the Southern Song Dynasty in Yin County of Zhejiang province (now Yinzhou District, Ningbo).

In the fifth Year of Emperor Yong Zheng of Qing dynasty (1727), "Three Character Classic" was translated into Russian and disseminated throughout Russia; and since has been translated into English, French and other languages.

In the autumn of 1990, "Three Character Classic" became part of UNESCO's "World Children's Morality Series" and become commonly-shared heritage for all mankind.
