Two immigration officers from the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) will train in Canada to "broaden their global horizon and enhance their skills," the city's Immigration Department said Saturday.
Arvid Kwok Tsan-ming, assistant principal immigration officer, left for Kingston, Canada on Saturday to attend Queen's Executive Program at the Queen's University, which concentrates on strategy formulation, corporate management and leadership.
Wilson Wong Mo-cheong, chief Immigration officer, will leave for Ottawa on Monday. He will attend the Senior Police Administrative Course (SPAC) run by the Canadian Police College of Royal Canadian Mounted Police, the department said in a statement.
Immigration work has been increasingly complex, requiring public servants to "adhere to the changing global political and economic situation closely and acquire the contemporary management techniques," Director of Immigration Simon Peh said.
