At least six people were buried in a landslide in south China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region early on Friday, said an official of the regional work safety bureau.

Rescue operations are under way.

The landslide occurred at about 5 a.m. in Bamengjie Village, Baise City, said Wei Gan, director of the regional work safety bureau.

According to initial findings, the landslide was a geological hazard, Wei said. Further investigations have begun.
