China's military will hold a press conference at 4:00 p.m. Sunday to brief on the rescue operations by the army and armed police.
The National Defense Ministry spokesman Hu Changming and other five officers with the Departments of the General Staff, General Political, General Logistics, and General Armament, and the Armed Police Headquarters will attend the press conference.
As of 5:00 p.m. Saturday, more than 148,000 troops, armed police, militia and reservists were engaged in rescue operations in areas ravaged the deadly earthquake in southwest China, according to military sources.
This is the first press conference held by the military after the troops and armed police rushed to the quake-hit regions since Monday.
