Relief goods donated by the U.S. military arrived in Chengdu, capital city of Sichuan Province some100 kilometers from the earthquake epicenter, at 11:00 a.m. on Sunday, sources said.

This is first humanitarian aid donated by foreign military forces.

The supplies, valued at some 1.6 million U.S. dollars, include food, water, generators and blankets.

As of 1 p.m. Saturday, domestic and international donations in cash or goods had reached 6.023 billion yuan (860 million U.S. dollars), and foreign donations had exceed 1 billion yuan, according to the Information Office of the State Council.

Chinese President Hu Jintao Saturday night expressed gratitude to foreign countries and people who have offered aid since a major earthquake struck the southwest of the country.

More than 200 rescuers from Japan, Russia, the Republic of Korea and Singapore are in Sichuan to help with the rescue and disaster relief work.
