The priority still shall be placed on "rescuing people," said Mr. Li Chengyun, the Vice-governor of Sichuan Province, in a press conference on Friday morning.

Other urgent tasks include refugee resettlement, preventing epidemics, production safety inspection and assessment to prevent secondary disasters, and post-disaster reconstruction.

Tents and makeshift shelters are still what is most needed now, said Li. The State Council has required that the whole nation support Sichuan by supplying those materials for the settlement of more than 5 milliion people.

In addition, sanitation equipment, such as road cleaning vehicles, is also urgently needed, said Li.
