New passenger rail between China and Kazakhstan opens

At 8:58am on May 29th, one passenger train from Kazakhstan slowly entered Urumqi Railway Station. From that moment on, a new passenger route between China and Kazakhstan was officially opened.

This N897 passenger train started from Astana, capital of the Republic of Kazakhstan, and its terminal is Urumqi, capital of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. The whole route extends 1,898 kilometers and amounts to 37 hours of travel. This passenger train consists of 11 carriages and can hold 576 passengers. The passenger train will make one round-trip every week.
