Thirteen miners are missing after a coal mine was flooded four days ago in northeast China's Heilongjiang Province, local authorities said Tuesday.

The flooding took place at about 2:00 a.m. on May 30 at the Hengda Coal Mine in Jidong County, Jixi City, and the coal mine owner had said no miner was trapped, said a spokesman of the Jixiwork safety bureau.

Currently, rescuers are speeding up efforts to pump water out of the coal mine, the spokesman said.
