The "Olympic Families" activity is promoted by the Government and open to the public to recruit families in Beijing. These families will provide Olympic spectators and tourists with accommodation and reception services. Overseas audiences and tourists can experience Beijing family life and experience non-governmental friendly exchange. After one year of preparation, the "Evaluation Standards of the Olympic Families" was released on March 28; and starting from April 10, "the Olympic Families" will formally begin to accept applications from Beijing families. Four districts, Dongcheng, Xicheng, Chaoyang, Haidian – close to the Olympic competition venues – will be prime areas; and applications will be accepted in Chongwen, Xuanwu, Fengtai and Shijingshan districts. The deadline for application was April 30; and 1,000 families will be selected. The list of families chosen will be announced to the public early in June.
The "Olympic Families" activity runs from August 1 to September 31. During the Beijing Olympic and Paralympic Games; the price of housing will be based on the conditions of the house; Head Office of China International Travel Service Limited will be in charge of tours, transportation and catering safety supervision; the community will cooperate with public security departments for the safety of foreign tourists in the community; and Olympic Families are responsible for the security of their guests.
