China will give subsidies to hospitals out of southwestern Sichuan, those which are receiving and treating injured quake victims in the province, 28,000 yuan (4,058 U.S. dollars) each.
This was decided by the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Civil Affairs and the Ministry of Finance on Thursday based on the estimation of the average medical treatment cost of injured quake victims.
It also arranged subsidies for recovered victims to return home. The amount of subsidies would be decided by provincial departments.
So far, 367 hospitals in 20 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities had received 10,015 quake victims transferred from Sichuan. Medical experts, psychologists, and special wards had been assigned to ensure the best treatment for them.
The May 12 earthquake in Sichuan had killed 69,127 as of Thursday noon. A total of 373,612 were injured and 17,918 others remained missing in the 8.0-magnitude quake.
