Beijing subways will fully implement the Automatic Fare Collection System (AFC) on the 9th; and all passengers will be required to swipe their cards to get on the subway. Paper tickets will be completely discontinued in Beijing subway stations.

According to the Beijing Municipal Committee of Communications, the AFC system for Line 1, Line 2, Line 5, Line 13, and the Batong Line will be fully operational on the 9th. By then, all passengers on the subway must swipe an IC card to get into the stations. Those without a card can get in with a one-way card purchased at the station.
