The 11 Taiwan tourists injured in a bus accident in northeast China will return home on a chartered flight on June 20, local authorities said on Thursday.
The injured, along with family members and other tourists, will board a chartered flight organized by International SOS, the world's leading provider of medical and security assistance services.
The aircraft would go through the transit formalities in Beijing before landing at around 11 a.m. on June 20 in Jiamusi City, where the injured are in hospital, before departing for Taiwan at about 4 p.m..
One tourist died in the accident in Heilongjiang when the bus carrying 29 Taiwan tourists plunged into a roadside ditch on Monday.
Local traffic police attributed the cause of the accident to speeding and poor driving.
Zhu Songchuan, 68, died at the scene of head injuries. His body was cremated on Wednesday and his remains will be taken back to Taiwan.
The mainland's Association for Relations Across the Taiwan Straits (ARATS) on Monday wrote to the Taiwan-based Straits Exchange Foundation (SEF) to report the accident and its handling, sources said.
The Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council and ARATS paid careful attention to the accident, sources said. ARATS dispatched an official to assist in handling the accident.
ARATS asked the SEF to report the accident and its aftermath to the relatives of those involved as soon as possible.
