The Earthquake-Stricken Area Intangible Cultural Heritage Protection Work Forum recently concluded. It was held by the Ministry of Culture and China's Intangible Cultural Heritage Protection Center. More than 40 experts discussed issues such as post-disaster intangible cultural heritage facilities restoration, reconstruction, and promotion; as well as the planning and establishment of protection areas for the Qiang Minority cultural ecology.

Cultural departments in Sichuan, Gansu, and Shaanxi provinces declared losses of intangible cultural heritage in the quake. Sichuan's intangible cultural heritage was seriously damaged: 12 cultural masters were killed and 105 injured. The infrastructure of intangible cultural heritage suffered great destruction: 66 intangible cultural heritage-themed museums and 21 Nationalities Museums were damaged. The losses in related projects was also quite heavy.

Intangible cultural heritage in the cities of Hanzhong and Baoji in Shaanxi Province was seriously damaged, including 28 key national and provincial intangible cultural heritage protection projects. In Gansu Province, 65,136 precious intangible cultural heritage objects and 58 intangible cultural heritage sites were damaged to different degrees.
