According to a press conference held by the Transportation Department, the Olympic fast-track will be launched shortly. Vehicles with special Olympics permission will have priority when passing through highway toll stations and do so free of charge.

He Jianzhong, spokesman for the Transportation Department and the Secretary of economic reconstruction and regulations, told reporters that from May until 15 days after the Beijing Olympic Games, all roads relevant to the Games will be free of construction projects. Provincial transportation departments in other provinces hosting the games have established Olympic fast-tracks within current special lanes and at military tolls. Vehicles used during the torch relay, if recognized by the provincial government, will also enjoy the fast-track policy for free.
