The China Youth Research Center released the "Comparative Study Report on the Consumer Awareness and Behavior of High School Students in China, Japan, South Korea and the US" on June 23.

The survey found that 74.4 percent of high school students in the United States have part-time jobs, ranking the highest among the four countries. In Japan, 49.2 percent of high school students have done part-time work and 44.9 percent of South Korean high school students have part-time jobs; but in China only 39.6 percent of high school students have had work experience. In addition, in the United States, 28.2 percent of high school students work regularly. In Japan, that figure is 16.7 percent, while in China and South Korea the proportion is relatively low: only 4.8 percent and 4.3 percent respectively.

The survey targets students in a vocational high school and middle school. In China, 1,537 high school students filled out the questionnaire. Among all the students who participated, 1,388 were in Japan, 1,465 in South Korea and 1,004 in the United States.
