In preparation for the 2008 Olympic Games, the Beijing Municipal Public Security Bureau has mobilized nearly 50,000 police officers to participate in Olympic security training that involves foreign languages, basic knowledge of Olympic Games security, Olympic security expertise, and simulated exercises.

Since Beijing's successful Olympic bid in 2001, the city's Municipal Public Security Bureau has started its Olympic security force training. So far, the Beijing Municipal Public Security Bureau has trained more than 200 foreign language professionals in English, French, Russian, German, Japanese, Arabic, and other languages as police liaison officers.

In addition, the Beijing Municipal Public Security Bureau has also formed a "special police corp" consisting of police with special skills. They will take action when unexpected events happen during the Olympic Games; and combat violent crime and terrorism. Over 3,000 civilian police and more than 7,300 security volunteers will be trained. They will be responsible for security during the Olympic Games.
