There has been no evidence to show that two bus explosions in Kunming on Monday were connected to terrorist attacks aimed at next month's Olympics, a local official said on Tuesday.

The blasts were also not linked to the July 19 unrest at a rubber plant in Mengliang County, said Du Min, deputy mayor of Kunming.

Du, also head of the city's public security bureau, said at a press conference that initial investigations had not found any proof that the blasts were intended to sabotage next month's sports event, but he pledged to continue the probe.
