On July 26, the Beijing Municipal Transportation Authority informed reporters that during the Olympics, passengers can call a taxi by dialing 961001 and 96103. To meet the needs of foreign language communication for taxi drivers taking foreign passengers, the two dispatch centers in Beijing -961001 and 96103 - will cooperate with professional translation companies. Using the car's GPS voice function, companies will provide simultaneous interpretation in eight languages including English, French, German, Japanese, and Russian. Nearly 100 taxi companies are expected to provide this service.
