After 17 and a half months of arduous construction work by the China Railway Tenth Group Corp., Ltd, renovations on the Qingdao railway station have been completed.

Today the station begins test operations and will formally go into operation on August 1. With a joint investment of 1.32 billion yuan by the Ministry of Railways and Qingdao Municipality, the renovation is a landmark project that will welcome the Olympic Games. The project includes three major parts—new platforms, a hanging iron canopy and station facilities.
