On the morning of July 29, at the press reference of "Beijing Olympic Cultural Activities," Chairman of the BOCOG's Cultural Activities Department Zhao Dongming said that during the Olympic Games, Beijing will hold a magnificent international exchange program for young people—the Olympic Youth Camp.
According to Zhao, Beijing's 2008 Olympic Youth Camp stresses the theme of "Youth Create the Future," focusing on three main concepts of "Olympic experience," "cultural exchange," and "understanding China." Campers will be invited to attend the opening ceremony, watch Olympic competitions, visit the Olympic Village, take part in activities such as Wudong Qingchun (youth dance), and tour cultural and historical sites in Beijing. They will also participate in exchange activities, including group birthday parties, and training in environmental protection and scientific technology. 204 National Olympic Committees (NOCs), members of the International Olympic Committee, nominate outstanding young representatives to go to China to attend the camp. For the first time in Olympic history, 10 people with a disability have been invited to the program.
