Volunteers are scattered within every Olympic venue and service area, contributing much to the Olympic Games. As a volunteer, I am proud to see that volunteers' smiles have become Beijing's best name card.
As we know, most volunteers come from universities, among which the Beijing International Studies University (BISU) recruited nearly 1,500 volunteers. We are giving up a relaxing summer holiday, hurrying between school and venues. Sometimes we get up before 5:00 a.m. and return to school at midnight. So logistical services are very important.
Universities have taken action to ensure that volunteers are living in a comfortable environment and doing their best. Bathroom and cafeteria service hours have been extended to 1:00 a.m. Furthermore, the quality and taste of the food have improved. Boiled water is also available until midnight.
From time to time, students can go to a 500-seated hall with a big screen that broadcasts the Olympic competitions. Meanwhile, a large outdoor screen serves as a backup. After work, volunteers in shifts can enjoy the fierce competition.
To protect students' health, the college hospital provides several inoculations. Students get inoculated for infectious diseases such as hepatitis. The hospital is open every day.
In order to keep volunteers and the university safe, the security department of BISU has strengthened supervision and intensified checks. During the Olympic Games, only persons with a student ID card or entry card can enter the campus or dormitory.
These measures effectively relieve students of some daily worries. While we work for the Olympic Games, our college is accommodating and serving us. In a word, everyone is actively working for Olympics.
