China's disabled "to enjoy rehabilitation services" in 2015

Chairman of the China Disabled Persons Federation and Executive Vice-President of the BOCOG Tang Xiaoquan said on the 24th that in order to protect the rights of the disabled and promote the cause of people with disabilities, China has promulgated and implemented a series of laws and regulations for the legal protection of the rights of the disabled, according to Liberation Daily.

According to incomplete statistics, there are more than 50 laws involving the legal protection of the disabled;and these have formed a legal system that is based on the Constitution, with the criminal, civil, litigation and other laws as a basis, the "Disabled People's Protection Law" as the core, administrative regulations, local laws and regulations to support the protection of the rights of people with disabilities.

According to reports, China has made a plan to realize "everyone to enjoy rehabilitation services" for the disabled in 2015. By now, China has established over 19,000 various types of rehabilitation agencies at all levels; and has given rehabilitation training to more than 13.3 million people. At the same time, China has initially formed a special education system ranging from basic education, vocational education to higher education and adult education.

By 2007, 1,667 educational institutions were set up for the blind, the deaf and children with a mental deficiencyl; 2,803 special education classes in compulsory education ordinary schools; and there are currently 580,000 blind, the deaf, and students with a mental deficiency. In 2007, cities and towns employed 392,000 disabled people.
