China has currently 82.96 million people with a disability, accounting for 6.34 percent of the nation's total population. And all of them have been brought under the social security system, according the press conference on the progress in the cause for Chinese people with a disability on Sept. 9.

Sun Xiande, Vice President of the China Disabled Persons Federation (CDPF), introduced that, in past two decades, the party and the government has adopted a series of actions, promulgating laws, stipulating regulations and taking measures to protect the rights and interests for persons with disabilities in fields of health, education, employment and social security.

In addition, a new and unified organization of the disabled is being established and aid activities for them having been extensively carried out to promote the development of the cause of disabled people.
