An earthquake measuring 6.1 on the Richter scale occurred on the sea near Taiwan at 3:43 p.m. Tuesday (0743 GMT), according to Taiwanese weather bureau.
The earthquake, the strongest that jolted the Taiwan area this year, caused tremors in most part of the Island except Kaohsiung and Pingtung.
There were no reports of casualties or damage so far.
